Mental health challenges during the COVID-19 lockdown

The past days, I have read articles about the impact of coronavirus on the elderly, victims of domestic violence, teachers, homeless, and mothers. Some groups are more prone to the social, economic, and health complexity of the virus, and their everyday lives have changed dramatically when compared to other [groups]. Even though a global threat, the coronavirus battle doesn’t follow universal rules of struggle.

Moving countries: Why I am more with less

I have always been very thoughtful about the things I own, and how I organise them in my space — whether it’s the tiny studio in South Korea, the shared-flat in Ghana, or the two-floor house in Mauritius. I love change, and I see moving to a different country as an opportunity to reset my reality and rediscover myself; living abroad helps me look at things with fresh eyes and get rid of preconceptions. The best things about living by the ocean

Research shows that spending time by the ocean is beneficial both for our physical and mental health. Some expats are consciously in search of seaside destinations to fill their life with joy and fresh sea air while others accidentally find themselves on the shore, only to ask how on earth were they living before without the breathtaking sea view. Today, on World Oceans Day, Expat.com celebrates the future of our oceans with a few points which commemorate the best aspects of expat life by the ocean.

On a tropical island: Life beyond the brochure

If I had an Instagram, I would have the perfect photo background to jazz up my social network presence — a fire orange sun gently melting inside the warmth of the Indian Ocean. Mauritius is tropical, is exotic and is lush — it’s the setting in which I could sprinkle everyone’s dreams: early morning runs on the silver beach, towel and swimsuit at all times in the boot, havaianas totally acceptable shoewear in the office, after work Piña Coladas on breezy rooftops, and weekends in luxurious resorts pampered by spa experts.
